supporters, and community organizations, 2014 was an outstanding year for the Preservation Foundation as friends and neighbors joined generous homeowners to make the Fall Historic Home and Garden Tour in the elegant Ridge Lane neighborhood a resounding success while Foundation members and friends generously supported the Annual Fund campaign with a record-breaking $28,000 ensuring support for Lake Forest’s future by preserving its past through preservation projects, leading the Board to contribute $5,000 to the Forest Park Project and initiate a Heritage Fund to accept community applications for grants to support preservation projects at www.lfpf.org, eleven homeowners received Preservation Awards recognizing dedication and stewardship, the annual Holiday Celebration welcomed members to a first-ever look at the beautifully restored James Ward Thorne house and an introduction to Mrs. Thorne’s World of Miniatures by Sally Sexton Kalmbach, Annual Holiday Celebration LPPF Members likely influenced by Howard Van Doren Shaw and coinciding with the Clayton Mark House designed by the Shaw firm faces replacement by the City of Lake Forest with IDOT funding, alternative concepts eliminate the three closed spandrel arches and the unique height profile and spacing of the railing and balustrade system and the single sidewalk alignment, replacing them with a single open-spandrel arch, taller railings, solid panels and sidewalks on both sides driven by IDOT standards despite the bridge’s significance within the National Register Historic District and its intentional illusion of flying over ravines envisioned in the 1857 town plan by Almerin Hotchkiss, the Foundation urges discussion to ensure renovation is consistent with historic character and invites comments via
