The January 2011 issue of Chicago Magazine (a Tribune Company publication), names Gunny Harboe one of six Chicagoans of the year. Harboe is the preservation architect who conducted our $50,000 Historic Structure Report study of the 1900-built Lake Forest train station, 2008-09.  In 2010 this superb, definitive report leveraged $1.2 million in city, Metra, and ITEP (federal) grants, the last one being $835,000.  This sum will pay for nearly all of the first-phase essential exterior construction in what is projected to be ultimately a $3 million project (HVAC, restrooms, interior).  Work begins in the summer of 2011. Now the Foundation seeks to restore its project fund that provided the $50,000 study making possible this twenty-fold return of federal tax dollars to Lake Forest! Read More
